Tomorrow, Thursday 3 December 2020, Western Cape Minister of Transport and Public Works, Bonginkosi Madikizela will officially launch the 2020/21 festive season safety plan at the Huguenot Tunnel on the N1.
During the launch, Minister Madikizela will reveal structured Traffic Law Enforcement interventions which include effective road safety education, communication and awareness programmes to positively influence all road users towards improved behavior while using the road network to commute within and beyond the province.
The Minister will also use the opportunity to highlight the enforcement of DMA regulations on the applicable COVID-19 lockdown level 1 and some of the Department’s Safely Home campaigns that will run over the festive season.

Keeping each other safe on the roads is about developing permanent vigilance and taking constant care.
Last week, 64 people were arrested by Western Cape Provincial Traffic officers on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. During the same period, 15 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes in our province.
