Minister Sileku expresses gratitude to Provincial Traffic Officers / 25 June 2024

As the newly appointed Minister of Mobility in the Western Cape, I am using my first few days in office to visit Traffic Centres across the province to express my gratitude to Provincial Traffic Officers for their commitment and dedication to keep our road network safe. Since last week, I have already visited Traffic Centres in Beaufort West, the Metro and the N2 Region (Garden Route). I am looking forward to visiting other Centres in the West Coast (N7) and the N1 Region this week.

Traffic Officers are the face of our beautiful province and are the first people visitors meet when entering the Western Cape. Road safety is one of the key priorities of the Mobility Department. These men and women in uniform perform their daily duties with pride by protecting all our road users. We are enormously grateful for their contribution in keeping residents safe by applying the Rule of Law come rain or shine.

Too many road users are losing their lives on our roads, and I am grateful to each and every officer who goes above and beyond their call of duty to make our roads safer. By working together, we can achieve our goal of reducing road fatalities by 50 percent by 2030. I therefore call upon all road users to be responsible when using our road network to make the Western Cape a safer province.
